The 4.5 is the smallest sail I brought, and looks like it may be too big.

Got down to 'The Event' parking at Hood River nice & early to beat the crowds. Everyone very friendly, nice grassy rigging area, loos & outdoor shower, easy launch, & parking all for $3.

I spent far too long swimming and fluffing waterstarts. The runs were good, but it was a day of stupid mistakes and not being 'agile' enough to cope with the vagueries of the gusty wind. I took small comfort in the fact that everyone was moaning about the wind, but I was cursing my lack of skill and fitness. And, I suppose, it was only my 3rd time or so on a wave board...

The fact that the river flows at 6kts against the wind means that you don't go miles downwind, but flying the rig to waterstart can leave you breathless as you end up fighting the current to release the clew.

The stunning setting and the atmosphere augment the star rating, the crap wind and my crap sailing lower it...
